Alpha Recovery likely has dozens, if not over 100, phone numbers it calls from.  Here are a few phone numbers Alpha Recovery may be calling you from:

Alpha Recovery Corp Lawsuits

If you want to know just how unhappy consumers are with Alpha Recovery, take a look at the number of lawsuits filed against on the Public Access to Court Electronic Records (“PACER”).  PACER is the federal docket throughout the country that lists federal complaints filed against Alpha Recovery.  When you do a search for , there are over 200 lawsuits filed against Alpha Recovery.  Most of these lawsuits involve consumer rights’ violations.

Alpha Recovery Corp Harassment

The Fair Debt Collection Practices Act (“FDCPA”) is a federal law that applies to everyone in the United States.  In other words, everyone is protected under the FDCPA.  The FDCPA is a laundry list of what Alpha Recovery can and cannot do while collecting a debt, as well as things debt collectors must do while collecting a debt.  If Alpha Recovery is harassing you over a debt, you have rights under the Fair Debt Collection Practices Act.

The Telephone Consumer Protection Act (“TCPA”) protects you from robocalls.  Robocalls are those annoying, automated, recorded calls that a computer makes to you all day long.  You can tell it’s a robocall because either no one is on the other end of the line or there’s a delay when you pick up the phone before a live person comes on the line.  You can get $500 per call if Alpha Recovery violates the TCPA.  Have you received a message from Alpha Recovery that sounds pre-recorded?  Or, maybe the message you received from Alpha Recovery is cutoff at the beginning or the end?  These are tell-tale signs that the message is pre-recorded.  If you have these messages on your cell phone, you may have a TCPA case against Alpha Recovery Corp.

The Electronic Fund Transfer Act (“EFTA”) protects electronic payments that are deducted from bank accounts.  If took unauthorized deductions from your bank account, you may have an EFTA claim.  Alpha Recovery, like most collection agencies, wants to set up reoccurring payments from consumers.  Imagine how much money Alpha Recovery gets if hundreds, if not thousands, of consumers electronically pay them $50-$100, or more, per month.  If you agreed to this type of reoccurring payment, Alpha Recovery must follow certain steps to comply with the EFTA.  Did Alpha Recovery continue to take electronic payments after you said stop?  Did Alpha Recovery take more money from your checking account than you agreed to?  If so, let’s talk about your rights under the EFTA.

The Fair Credit Reporting Act (“FCRA”) works to ensure that no information reported to your credit report is false.  In essence, it gives you the right to dispute those inaccuracies that you find on your credit report.  We handled a lot of cases recently where reported debt on a consumer’s credit report. Alpha Recovery likely reports on credit reports to obtain greater leverage over the consumer.  If Alpha Recovery is on your credit report, they may tell you if you pay the debt, they’ll remove it from your credit report.  This is commonly known as pay for delete.  You pay Alpha Recovery, and they delete the debt from your credit report.  Even if Alpha Recovery is not on your credit report, maybe the original creditor is.  If you pay off the debt to Alpha Recovery, then the original creditor, and Alpha Recovery, should accurately report this on your credit report.

Several states also have laws that provide its citizens an additional layer of protection.  For example, if you live in California, Texas, Florida, North Carolina, Wisconsin, Michigan, Montana, or Pennsylvania you may be able to tack on a state-law claim with your federal law claim above.  North Carolina, for example, has one of the most consumer-friendly statutes in the country.  If you live in NC, and you’re harassed over a debt, you may get $500.00 - $4,000.00 in damages per violation.  We work with a local counsel in NC.  Our NC clients have received some great results in debt collection harassment cases.  If you live in NC, and is harassing you, you have tons of leverage to get a great settlement.

We will use state and federal laws to immediately stop debt collection.  We will send a cease and desist letter to get the harassment to stop the same day.  If Alpha Recovery violates the FDCPA, EFTA, FCRA, or any state laws, you may be entitled to money damages.  For example, under the FDCPA, you can get up $1,000.00 in damages plus actual damages.  The FDCPA has a fee-shift provision.  This means, Alpha Recovery pays our attorney’s fees and costs.  If you have a TCPA case against Alpha Recovery, we will handle it based on a contingency fee.

We have helped hundreds of consumers stop phone calls from Alpha Recovery.  We know how to stop the harassment and get you money damages.  ONCE AGAIN, you will not pay us a penny for our time.  We will help you based on a fee-shift provision and/or based on a contingency fee. That means, Alpha Recovery pays our attorney’s fees and costs.

What If Alpha Recovery Corp Is On My Credit Report?

Based on our experience, Alpha Recovery does credit report.  That means, Alpha Recovery will mark your credit report with the debt they are trying to collect on.  In addition to , the original creditor may be on your credit report.  For example, if you owe Wells Fargo, and Alpha Recovery is collecting on it, both Wells Fargo and Alpha Recovery may have separate entries on your credit report.  This is important because you will want both parties to update your credit report if you pay off the debt.

If Alpha Recovery is on your credit report, we can help you dispute it.  Mistakes on your credit report can be very costly.  Along with causing you to pay higher interest rates, you may be denied credit, insurance, a rental home, a loan, or even a job because of these mistakes.  Some mistakes may include someone else’s information on your credit report, inaccurate public records, stale collection accounts, or maybe you were a victim of identity theft. If you have a mistake on your credit report, there is a process to dispute them.  My office will help you pull your credit report and dispute any inaccurate information.

If a credit reporting agency violates its obligations under the Fair Credit Reporting Act (“FCRA”), you may be entitled to statutory damages up to $1,000.00, plus the credit reporting agency will be required to fix the error.  The FCRA also has a fee-shift provision.  This means, the credit reporting agency pays your attorney’s fees and costs.  Therefore, you will not pay me a penny for my time.  We have helped dozens of consumers fix inaccurate information on their credit reports.

Complaints against Alpha Recovery Corp

If you’re on this page, chances are you are just like the hundreds of consumers out there being harassed by Alpha Recovery Corp.  The complaints on the Better Business Bureau (“BBB”) and various consumer websites and even the complaints on this page (below) are endless.  Alpha Recovery is accredited by the BBB.  The BBB gives Alpha Recovery an “A” rating.  Despite its “A” rating, here are nearly 40 customer complaints on the BBB. Here are some of the many BBB complaints regarding :

  1. “This company has abysmal customer service. I was hung up on by an easily irritated employee. I called back to speak with a manager, as suggested by the automatic machine response, who promptly hung up on me, as well.
  2. An automated recording calls my house every day from this company, early in the morning til late in the evening. I get a robot call several times a day from the number XXX-XXX-XXXX it just repeats "this is alpha recovery... press 1 if you're the person we're looking for, press 2 if this is not… I want this company to stop calling my house."
  3. I keep getting phone calls on my cell phone and house phone from a **** claiming to work for this company. When he ask to speak to someone, it is someone that does not live here and when I tell him that, he gets rude and disrespectful. He even told me it quit playing games when he was informed I was... not the person he was asking for and then hung up on me.

There are over forty reviews on Google that are just as bad. Alpha Recovery has an average 2.8 stars.  Here’s a snippet of the reviews on Google:

  1. Disgusting experience with Jesse! He spoke to me way out of line and unprofessionally. He interrupted the call speaking loudly stating that he was the manager. He cut me off mid-sentence yelling at me insulting me as a woman and tried to intimidate me.
  2. Harassing phone calls to me and my family members even after I verified and they agreed that I am not the correct person they are looking for. Verified social security number, birthdate, and addresses. Still, the company continues to harass and even went as far as to lie about their actions the Consumer protection agency.”
  3. They lie and try to steal your money. I was told that they would overdraft my bank account which they did and I have yet to receive my receipt of payment. Also they are not showing up on credit karma which that how I know what I owe. Never once have I received a letter by this company about any debt.”

Cases We Have Handled Against Alpha Recovery Corp

Threats and harassment by collection agencies can be pretty intimidating.  Well, it turns out we can stop the harassment, attempt to get you money damages under the law, and the collection agency will have to pay us our fees and costs.  Here are some of the cases we’ve handled against Alpha Recovery:

  1. Kenya v. Alpha Recovery Corp.  In this case, Alpha Recovery called our client on her home telephone number. Kenya entered into a monthly payment plan with Alpha Recovery where she paid $160.00 per month.  Alpha Recovery automatically deducted these payments from our client’s personal checking account.  On at least one occasion since Alpha Recovery began calling Kenya, Kenya called Alpha Recovery and spoke with Alpha Recovery’s collector, Roy. During the aforementioned conversation with Roy, Kenya told Roy to not take the upcoming payment out of her personal checking account. Despite Kenya’s request, Roy refused to stop the payment, saying there was nothing he could do and told Kenya that she would have to find a way to pay.  During the above-referenced collection call, Kenya clearly informed Alpha Recovery’s collector that Alpha Recovery was not authorized to withdraw a $160.00 payment from her personal checking account. Despite Kenya not providing authorization and/or revoking prior authorization, Alpha Recovery brazenly went ahead and attempted to withdraw a payment for $160.00 from Kenya’s personal checking account.  Alpha recovery also placed calls to Kenya’s parents. During conversations with Kenya’s parents, Alpha Recovery’s collectors disclosed that Kenya owes a debt. In this case, we alleged Alpha Recovery violated the Fair Debt Collection Practices Act, the Michigan Occupational Code, and the Electronic Fund Transfer Act.
  2. David v. Alpha Recovery Corp.  David lives in Pennsylvania, and Alpha Recovery was attempting to collect from David originating with Comcast.  Alpha Recovery called our client at his place of employment.  Alpha Recovery called from 720-590-1925, which is one of Alpha Recovery’s phone numbers.  Our client told Alpha Recovery to stop calling him at work as he could not accept calls at work.  Despite Plaintiff’s request that the calls stop, Alpha Recovery continued to call our client at work.  Moreover, Alpha Recovery left the following voicemail message on David’s telephone: “Hello. This message is for David B*********.  If you are not David B********* please hang up.  I have to advise you that this is an attempt to collect a debt.  Any information obtained will be used for that purpose. Umm..I’ve been trying to call you for a while, and for some reason you are avoiding me. I need you to give me a call back as soon as possible.” Under the FDCPA, debt collectors must state the name of the company calling.  We alleged that Alpha Recovery violated multiple sections of the Fair Debt Collection Practices Act.
  3. Joseph v. Alpha Recovery Corp.  Our client lives in Ohio. Here, Alpha Recovery was attempting to collect on a debt allegedly owed to DeKalb Medical Center. In this case, our client alleged violated the Fair Debt Collection Practices Act (“FDCPA”) and the Telephone Consumer Protection Act (“TCPA”) by placing collection call’s to Joseph’s cellular telephone after he spoke with more than one of Alpha Recovery’s representatives and requested the calls to stop. Here, we alleged Alpha Recovery used an automatic telephone dialing system to call Plaintiff’s cellular telephone. We alleged that Alpha Recovery violated the Fair Debt Collection Practices Act and the Telephone Consumer Protection Act.

Can Alpha Recovery Corp Sue You?

Although anyone can sue anyone for any reason, we have never seen Alpha Recovery sue consumers.  It’s likely Alpha Recovery does not sue because they do not always own the debt they are collecting on.  Also, Alpha Recovery would have to hire a lawyer, or use in-house counsel, to file a lawsuit.  It’s likely Alpha Recovery collects debts through the entire country.  Therefore, it would be very difficult to have lawyers, or a law firm, licensed in every state.  There are collection agencies that do sue consumers.  For example, Midland Credit Management is one of the largest junk-debt buyers.  Midland Credit Management collects on debt and also sues on debt.  The opposite is true with Alpha Recovery.  Therefore, it would be very unusual if Alpha Recovery sued you.  The original creditor, on the other hand, may hire a collection firm, or lawyer, to sue you.  If Alpha Recovery has threatened to sue you, call us.  We can help.

Can Alpha Recovery Corp Garnish Your Wages?

No, not unless they have a judgment.  If Alpha Recovery has not sued you, then Alpha Recovery cannot get a judgment.  If Alpha Recovery does not have a judgment, then Alpha Recovery cannot garnish your wages.  Minus limited situations (usually dealing with debts owed to the government for student loans, taxes, etc.), in order to garnish someone’s wages, you need a judgment first.  In short, we have not seen Alpha Recovery file a lawsuit against a consumer.  So, Alpha Recovery cannot garnish your wages, minus the exceptions listed above.  If Alpha Recovery has threatened to garnish your wages, contact our office right away.

Alpha Recovery Corp Settlement

If you want to settle a debt with Alpha Recovery, ask yourself these questions first:

  1. Do I really owe this debt?
  2. Is this debt within the statute of limitations?
  3. Is this debt on my credit report?
  4. If I pay this debt, will Alpha Recovery remove it from my credit report?
  5. If I pay this debt, will the original creditor remove it from my credit report?
  6. If I pay this debt, will I get something in writing from Alpha Recovery confirming the payment and settlement terms?

These are not the only things to consider when dealing with debt collectors.  We are here to help you answer the questions above, and much more.  Whether it’s harassment, settlement, pay for delete, or any other legal issue with Alpha Recovery, the folks at Agruss Law Firm are here to help you.

I have been paying Alpha Recovery Corp for a credit card that has a very high balance. Today I received a call stating that this Corp has not been paying the credit card company. If I pay 600 dollars today, I will receive a paid in full. I have been paying this since. At least 2017!

I got a call at my WORK from Angela and she was so belligerent and rude, I told her to slow her roll (the call was recorded according to her, which I would like you to send me a copy of). I had no idea about any of this debt as it is my daughters and I was the cosigner for the apt. I did not get any written notice from The Cottages in Durham or for Alpha Recovery about this at any time. So while Angela was blabbering on asking me for payment, I was trying to wrap my head around the fact that this was the first I heard about this and my daughter hadn't lived there in a year and I am being called at work. I asked for a copy of the bill and I got a "53 page fax" at my office, which wasted my employers paper. When I responded to Kessica with email thanking her for the wasted document, she said that was what I asked for, that was just plain DOUCHY. Your company is the rudest that I ever had the displeasure to deal with. Please email me a copy of the recording. Thank you

My name is V.M. I just made a payment arrangement with Alpha Recovery Corp. aka ARC. Just want to make sure this is a legitimate company!

I fell behind in my payment for a short term loan through Prosper Lending. My father passed away in June unexpectedly and I had to pay for his entire funeral which caused me to call behind in all of my bills. The loan I took out with Prosper went into collections. The collection agency called me and I was scared, agreed to a payment arrangement and gave them my bank acct info. The company is called Alpha Recovery. I also have the calls recorded. Should I close my bank account? After reading all of these forums online, I'm a nervous wreck. Thank you!

Alpha Recovery left me a voicemail stating that they are trying to collect a debt. I do owe the debt, I am just not in a position at this time to do anything about it. They called my work and they also called my ex-husband and told him they were a debt collector trying to reach me. Do I have to call them to make the calls stop? I don't want them calling anyone else about this and I really don't want to talk to them. What should I do? Thank you for your time and advice.

They continually call me at work and accuse me of being a creep based on my credit report. They refer to old forclosure debts from 2008 and 2009. I own a home now. Their tatics are subprofessional. Im so mad at them i have inquired if the original business will let me pay them instead. But i was not sure if i owed the money and Alpha insisted i did based on their database. But they said i waited too long to investigate its validity and they will not assist me in varifying if the debt is valid. So I told them to F.O. But i want my credit to not get destroyed!

I have been paying Alpha Recovery Corp for a credit card that has a very high balance. Today I received a call stating that this Corp has not been paying the credit card company. If I pay 600 dollars today, I will receive a paid in full!

I just made a payment arrangement with Alpha Recovery Corp. aka ARC. Just want to make sure this is a legitimate company!

I have been receiving calls from a 919-264-8354 which is from Chapel Hill, NC for a couple weeks now without any Voicemails left. I finally called them back and the first person was wanting information from me immediately but I had no idea what it was about so I said I will not give out my information to you until you tell me who you are, what company you are with and the reason for the call. I never got it from her (Whitney) and she got completely rude. I just told her I am working and hung up. Then I called back to get another person on the line named Garrett Brown so he said and I gave him my DOB and verified my address. He said that I owed $235.81 from Dr. Armas clinic in Chattanooga, TN from April 2015 and they just received this on 3/8/2018. I asked him how that was possible since I have been seeing that doctor many times over the last 3 years. He verified the company name and gave me their website I said well, which insurance was it and he said it was with and he said BCBSNC. I said oh, okay, well let me check with them first and I will call you back. I called BCBSNC and she said to call my Doctors office (which I no longer use because they are under investigation by the DEA)- the lady at BCBS said to get the Doctors office billing number, well they would not give that to me. So, I called back ARC and told them there is no record of this bill from BCBSNC, the guy said well it is actually with BCBS of TN? He asked if I was ready to setup a payment plan and I said I can pay it in full but I need a letter in the mail to verify this. He then proceeded to get rude. I went to their website and the only payment option was to give them my checking account- no way. I told him I need to get a letter to show my attorney.... he hung up on me. However, I just received a call AGAIN this morning from the same 919 number without a voicemail. How in the world did I go to this doctors office for 3 year without them telling me I had a balanced owed. Nothing made any sense with this because I pay all of my bills and never saw a bill from that Doctor. I feel harassed at this point and I think it is a scam but I want to be sure I do not have any debt out there that I owe. Something just doesn't feel right about this. Best regards, Jennifer Wollin 919-753-7234

Alpha Recovery is trying to collect on a charged off debt from Avant. I am in the process of trying to pay off some medical bills due to a surgery I had back in 2015. I offered them $25.00 a month to start out until I get in a better financial situation to show good faith and that I intended on paying the debt. They tried to force me into a high interest loan with One Main Financial to pay off their debt. I told them it does not make any sense to take on more debt to settle their debt. They were also persistent about getting access to my bank account, and I told them absolutely not. I did finally get them to agree to take $25.00 a month for several months until I could be in a better spot and increase the payments. I called them the next day with a prepaid card number and that I went and purchased specifically for that purpose, and right as we were about to get that started, a persons supervisor overtook the call and side walled me saying they could not take $25.00 a month and that they would need to see a rejection letter from One Main Financial. I told them $25.00 a month and Take it or Leave it....then the lady told me to repeat that again....I repeated it and she told me that would not work!

Just want to give you a new number that Alpha Recovery Corp. called me from tonight, this number was not on your list. (405)694-4216

Hi Shelly, Are you making the payments electronically from your checking account? If so, you may have a claim under the Electronic Fund Transfer Act. I'll get some more information from you on the phone. I can help you stop the calls, figure out how much money you owe or don't owe, and advise you of your rights. Thanks, Mike.

This is a line out of Boston Mass apparently for the same company.

Hi Jeffrey, Alpha Recovery cannot freeze your social security income. I think your best bet is to let Alpha Recovery Crop. know about your financial situation and your current health. I can help you write a letter to Alpha Recovery Corp. Hopefully, once Alpha knows about your current situation, they will stop calling you. I can send them a cease and desist letter, too, which will definitely stop the calls. I'll call you so we may further discuss your rights. Thanks, Mike.

Hi Jeffrey, I'm glad Alpha Recovery Corp. returned your payment if you do not owe the debt. Alpha Recovery Corp. should not be calling you on a debt you do not owe. Please e-mail me or fax the settlement letter to me that you have from Greystone. I will send it to Alpha Recovery Corp. with a cease and desist letter. The calls will stop. Thanks, Mike.

Alpha Recovery keeps trying to collect on a past credit card I had with Milestone MasterCard. I paid this account off 9-12-13 I even have the settlement letter from Gray Stone Alliance, which is no longer in business. I got a letter from Alpha Recovery on Dec 10 2013 saying that I still had a balance due, so I paid it on 7-10-14 thinking it was another one. Well after a few weeks they returned my payment and continue to call me saying I still owe!!!

Alpha Revovery continues to phone me regarding a default debt. I defaulted because of poor health and medical bills. Laid off 3 & 1/2 years ago I was forced to default on credit cards from lack of a living income wage. I am in poor health with debilitating and severe arthritis. I am 68 years old. My sole income is Social Security and a small retirement pension. Can Alpha Recovery freeze my bank account? I have no hidden income. No savings and live from month to month on my SSR and pension.

Floor managers rude and unwilling to answer questions is provide phone numbers. Telling me to feel free to find it off the internet myself when I asked for the number of the client that sold a 26.00 account to them.

Hi Nicholas, Alpha Recovery Corp is a legitimate collection agency. So, I do not think you are being scammed. Navient was formed in 2014 by division of Sallie Mae into 2 different companies, Sallie Mae Bank and Navient. I iwll contact you to further discuss this situation. Let's figure out who is harassing you, whether it's Sallie Mae, Navient, or Alhpa Recovery Corp. The, we can figure out how to stop the calls and get you on a payment plan to resolve your debt, if that's your ultimate goal. If any of these companies are harassing you, I'll help you stop the harassment. Thanks, Mike.

I'm getting calls from this company about solving a student debt problem. I've been working on getting money but I thought that Sallie Mae was now using Navient to collect the debt. I am being scammed?
