Debt collection harassment case against General Revenue Corporation
General Revenue Corporation is an education-based debt collection agency mainly based in Mason, Ohio. In January 2019, we represented a consumer in a Federal Debt Collection Practices Act (FDCPA) case against General Revenue Corporation. On their website, they claim to be one of the leading collection agencies nationally as well as the most experienced and trustworthy. Our cases with them in the past seem to indicate the contrary.A consumer that we represented was receiving several phone calls from unidentified collectors from General Revenue Corporation about collecting an alleged personal debt that she owed. Despite telling the collectors to stop calling, she still received several collection calls. One collector went so far as to call a third party asking them to call back in reference to our client. This type of harassing behavior is what the FDCPA was made to prevent. The collector knew the rules of the FDCPA, yet did not follow the what it stipulates, so we were able end all communications between the two parties. Best of all, pursuant to this federal law, our client did not have to pay us at all!If General Revenue Corporation is attempting to collect a debt from you, find out about your rights under the law.
